I can't even begin to imagine how many hundreds of hours worth of Facebook Live were generated over the past 48 hours with the whole election & results. I saw so many notifications from friends of mine who work in various markets all around the country. It was great to see everyones feeds, but I gotta be honest I found myself needing motion-sickness medication as the night progressed.
Now it's not your fault if you're the person doing it as you're working a crazy 14 hour shift, trying to meet the demands of your producers and news directors but let me offer this little suggestion:
It's the Feiyu G4 Pro 3-Axis Handheld Gimbal Stabilizer for Smartphones and it's available from B&H Photo Video.
I use it with my iPhone 6. It's also compatible with iPhone 6-Plus, 7 & 7-Plus and others as well. (Counterweight provided)
In fact - during the recent World Series as well as network prime time, Facebook is paying for ads simply encouraging people to do Facebook Live.
Why? Because they need to move a crazy amount of ad inventory they already have for the holidays and Facebook Live keeps people on Facebook longer. (which means more ads they can serve and cash in on.)
I know you all hate that whole advertising part, but it's what makes your paycheck possible.
This device is wicked easy to use. It comes with 2 sets of rechargeable batteries right out of the box.
The Charger runs off of a USB plug so you can charge it in the car while you're driving or while you're using the other set of batteries. It also has a special USB adapter to plug the stabilizer right into your computer and it will go online and grab any system updates from the manufacturer.
The device has 3 settings: Fixed Subject, Panning, and Selfie Mode, all switchable by the button on the handle. You can also add an extension pole to it if you need to get your camera above a crowd.
You're A Professional. Step Up Your Game! Broadcast Professionally, even on Facebook.
Provide content and videos that people will want to watch and not have to run to the medicine cabinet to pop pills because you set off an episode of their vertigo!
And one last tip: If you start a Facebook Live in Vertical Mode, it will not switch automatically to landscape in the middle of your broadcast... just... keep that in mind.
